Here's an opportunity for you to hunt with Rodney, a licensed hunting guide with 30 years experience tracking and hunting almost all game species. Our hunt will be on Tillery public game land, 5,216 acres. No tree stands, no bait, no blinds, no atv's - we'll get back to the basics and do an old school hunt which is exciting and will put our knowledge and skills to the test. I will hunt with you and show you how to tract deer, understand their natural habitat and movements, we'll follow tracts and predict their movement and hunt in their natural environment with no advantage of food plots, farm crops or bait. We'll stalk and glass (use a spotting scope or binoculars to hopefully spot deer) then we will silently and methodically walk within shooting range where we can get an accurate shot! Again we will ground hunt with no tree stands or blinds although we can bring our shooting stick for better rifle stability to make a perfect shot and harvest a deer or two. This is an awesome method of hunting with no advantage of bait or pre-scouting the land.
We'll spend 2 full days in the field and/or woods , probably both on over 5,000 acres of prime hunting game land. I will provide transportation in my truck to and from the hunting tract. You should plan to bring a back pack with hand warmers, ammo, knife, and wipes for cleaning your hands if we harvest a deer or two. We will pack a lunch to take with us, bring water or a non-alcoholic drink to last you the both 2 days of hunting, bottle water and coffee are provided at the cabin. Make sure to dress warm and wear a blaze orange hat or vest.
Any deer we harvest we will field dress on the spot, if you don't know how gut the deer I'll show you how and you will be involved. Also we will skin and quarter the deer in the field or bring it back and process it at the cabin, again if you are unfamiliar with processing the deer I'll show you how and you can learn and help, we'll also vacuum sealing the cuts of meat and we'll put it in the freezer; you take your deer meat home so bring a cooler.
Lodging for you will be in our guest cabin, which offers full modern accommodations, electricity, heat, tv, mini fridge, comfortable beds, full bathroom, Keurig coffee maker and coffee pods are provided. Plan to arrive the day before the hunt, we will sight in your scope here at the cabin and prepare for the hunt, we'll go over a map of the hunting tract and come up with a good hunting plan. I'll use a handheld GPS to ensure we don't get lost, Tillery Game Land is very large in acreage.
This hunt will be a lot of fun, exciting, memorable, informative and is an old school style of hunting where we use our knowledge, experience and skills to find, track, stalk and harvest a good white tail deer with no advantages which makes a harvest that much more exciting. The goal is we both harvest one deer each and have an awesome hunting experience with memories to last a lifetime.
The dates of the hunt will be December 6 and 7, 2021, Monday and Tuesday. During early week there are less hunters on the tract. Winning bidder should plan to arrive at our cabin in Halifax county on Sunday, December 5 after 3 p.m. but before dark so we can make sure your scope is sighted in.
